Make a Lifelong Impact for a Child in Need
A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a highly trained community volunteer who advocates for abused and neglected children (age 0-18) going through the court system. Being a CASA is not a typical volunteer experience, but allows for the opportunity to truly make a difference in a child's life. So what do CASAs do? They listen first, and then they act. CASAs spend their time getting to know the child by interacting directly with them and talking to others in the child's life. CASAs then use the info they gather to inform judges and other professional of what the child needs and work towards a safe and permanent home for that child. Unfortunately, we have seen a rise in need for CASAs. This year in Boulder County there has been a 12% increase in cases, with 40 new children placed in out-of-home placement. All of these children potentially could use a CASA.
