METRO VOLUNTEERS awarded
the 2005 winner of The Henry McAllister Award for
Excellence in Special Projects by the El Pomar
Foundation.
DENVER - November 18, 2005
- Metro Volunteers, the expert resource center on
volunteerism in the metro Denver area was recognized
for their commitment to excellence by the El Pomar
Foundation at the 17th annual awards banquet held at
the Colorado Springs World Arena on Thursday,
November 17, 2005.
Metro Volunteers was
presented with the prestigious Henry McAllister
Award for Excellence in Special Projects and a grant
award of $15,000 for the organization to continue
their mission of mobilizing and cultivating
volunteers as a vital force in the community.

Foundation Award for Excellence shines a bright
light on our belief that through volunteerism you
can change yourself and change the world. Volunteers
from across the metro Denver area utilize our
resources throughout the year and enthusiastically
share their time and talents by mending fences,
painting shelters, building trails, feeding the
hungry, and helping those who need it most. On
behalf of our corporate, foundation and nonprofit
partners, and the entire community of volunteers, we
graciously accept this wonderful acknowledgement of
our work" said Kristy Judd, Executive
Director of Metro Volunteers.

in 1994, we have helped transform over 200,000
people and countless communities by matching
individuals and groups with meaningful and enriching
volunteer experiences. In 2004 alone our network of
over 22,000 volunteers contributed more than
one-million hours of service with over 435
nonprofits in the metro Denver area.

collaborative network of non-profits and volunteers,

Thirty -three nonprofits,
one business, and several community leaders
throughout the State of Colorado were recognized for
their commitment to excellence and were awarded more
than $380,000 at the 17th Annual Awards For
Excellence at the Colorado Springs World Arena on
November 17, 2005. El Pomar Chairman and CEO William
J. Hybl hosted the presentation for an audience of
nearly 1,000 civic, community and nonprofit leaders.
Since 1989, the El Pomar program has provided $3.4
million to more than 375 nonprofit organizations in
100 Colorado cities.
