Thank
you for your interest in youth mentoring!
|
Did you know that 37% of students in
Denver area schools will not graduate and 42% of
Denver's homeless population is under the age of 18?
These statistics are alarming, but there is a way to
help our
community's at-risk youth. Caring,
adult mentors are needed to spend quality time with
young people who need their support. Mentoring
provides encouragement that helps kids avoid risky
activities and lifestyle choices.
No special skills
needed, just a few hours a month of quality time
will make a difference. Mentoring can be as simple
as doing homework, going to the park or sharing an
ice cream. Research shows that mentored youth have
improved academic performance and are less likely to
become involved in risky behavior.
