  • Develop productive board meeting agendas
  • Run effective meetings
  • Build your critical working relationships with other board members and the executive director

Session 4 - Roles and Responsibilities of Effective Board Members
Thursday, August 28; 7:30-9:30am
 

Location: Metro Volunteers, 444 Sherman Street, Denver CO

If you’re new to being a nonprofit board member, this workshop will provide you with information on how to fulfill your board duties.  This will create a positive experience for you and a positive impact for the nonprofit on whose board you serve.  Topics will include: 

  • Understanding your key roles and responsibilities
  • Learning about expectations the organization will have of you
  • Being clear on what you should expect of the organization

Session 5 - The Board/Staff Relationship:  Building a Strong Partnership 
Thursday, September 25; 7:30-9:30am

A panel of seasoned board members will offer their perspectives on what makes for a strong board/staff relationships and what to do when it’s not working.  You’ll hear about: 

  • The elements of a successful board/staff partnership
  • How to build trust and respect between staff and board
  • Troubleshooting problem situations

Session 6 - Integrating Inclusive Practices
Thursday, October 23; 7:30-9:30am

This workshop will incorporate inclusive practices from the previous 5 sessions into basic strategies and ideas to enhance your board governance. You'll come away with an understanding of:

  • Understanding Inclusiveness and its strategic relevance
  • Identifying the best practices of good board governance
  • Making it work for your organization
